Q&A with Stooshe

We can't get enough of Stooshe's new single 'Love Me' featuring Travie McCoy. The sassy 3-piece girl band give the lowdown on what it was like working with Travie, talk upcoming debut album, their style essentials, Valentines Day and more!


You were shortlisted for BBC Sound Of 2012. How does that feel?
Alex: Overwhelming as we were listed amongst artists that we really respect and we never expected to be listed.

Your new video for 'Love Me' feature's Gym Class Heroes front-man Travie McCoy. How did you first meet Travie and what was it like working with him?
Karis: We met Travie when we were shooting our music video in LA. It was an amazing, cool experience and he got the Stooshe vibe straight away.

Describe the sound of your debut album in 3 words
Courtney: Fun, eclectic-genres, no-rules (a few double barrels!)

You all clearly have your own style going on. How would each of you describe it?
Karis: Very 50's with an urban twist, I perform very girly and I like to portray that in my style
Courtney: My style is quirky and 80's fresh prince
Alex: Glam 80's Versace model

Nice! What's your one fashion essential that you couldn't live without?
Karis: My killer heels
Alex: My fur jacket
Courtney: My orange Jordan trainers

Where would you like to be by this time next year?
Alex: We want to be headlining our own tour, and putting our Stooshe stamp on everything and everyone!

Tell us a little more about The Only Way Is Stooshe, your own YouTube reality show!
Karis: It's basically our "behind the scenes insight into what we get up to day to day in Stooshe world"

It has been some time since the Spice Girls flew the flag for girl power. Is girl power still alive and kicking?
All: Yes!!

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, which would it be?
Alex: Whitney Houston greatest hit
Karis: Miss education of Lauren hill
Courtney: It would have to be something basement orientated

We caught you at Live Fest last year, but what about this year - any festival performances lined up?
Alex: Isle of White, and a maybe a couple of others.... we shall see!

What festival would you most love to play?
Karis: Glastonbury because it's the original!

Are you going to this year’s Brit Awards?
Alex: Yes, we're so lucky that we've been invited

Valentines Day is upon us! Which boyband member would you send a Valentines card to?
Alex: Zane from One Direction
Courtney: I don't do 'boy' bands so Nicki Minaj!
Karis: Jay from The Wanted

Your idea of romance is...
Courtney: For our partners to surprise us, have our bags packed and whisk us away abroad and have everything planned and be spoilt

Courtney: Humour
Alex: Serenading
Karis: Loyalty
